The Rogue CSA Share this Week!

We’ve got a host of local fare in the Rogue CSA Share this week, from Rogue Produce! Our Standard Share includes fresh corn tortillas made by Jennifer Greene of Windborne Farm; TouVelle Cheese from Rogue Creamery; arugula from Dunbar Farm; and white onions and potatoes from Ben Yohai of Wandering Fields. The Standard Share also comes with a 6 oz. jar of Cinnamon Maca Almond Butter to pair with deliciously crisp organic Opal apples; and a seasonal favorite, persimmons, for which we’ll provide a popular recipe included in your delivery (ever tried persimmon arugula pasta?).

The Plus Share this week focuses on the amazingly flavorful Chorizo sausage from White Oak Ranch in Eagle Point. We’re including fresh cilantro and leeks from Dunbar Farm, and butternut squash from Ella Bella Farm, to prepare a yummy looking squash and Chorizo tostada (using the tortillas from the Standard Share). We’ll be including that recipe along with your delivery as well!

Of course, you can always order whatever delicious local produce you’d like from our Online Farmers Market, or maybe just a block of organic butter, apple juice, olive oil, pizza dough, smoothie mix, or others to go along with the Standard or Plus Shares described above. This week we have some serious sales on a variety of cheeses from Rogue Creamery, so it’s a great time to join!

Orders for our next delivery this Friday, December 1st, need to be submitted by Tuesday at 4:00 PM. You can sign-up for any of our convenient service options, and start shopping for your local favorites. We make home deliveries from Ashland to Grants Pass, and Jacksonville to Shady Cove.

Rogue Produce is celebrating the arrival of April with Spring sales on some of our favorite local products. Our sale items are designed to help you get started in smoothie experimentation with the coming of the warmer Spring weather. Several of our products from Bright Earth Foods, in Ashland, are up to 20% off – including Superfood Smoothie Mix and Raw Green Smoothie mix. Bright Earth’s Organic Virgin Coconut Oil and jumbo Goji Berries are also delicious in smoothies, and we’ve put them on sale as well.

Another staple in Rogue smoothies is apple juice. We’ve reduced the price of the organic, cold-pressed and pasteurized apple juice from Valley View Orchard. Valley View Orchard is located in Ashland, and for new members who sign-up before April 7th, we’re throwing in a medley of their products for FREE! These items include a 1/2 gallon jug of apple juice, a quart jar of Bartlett pear juice, sliced peaches, pears, and a jar of pear sauce! This medley is over a $30 value, and we only have a limited quantity available. Find out more about this promotion by clicking here.

Cheese

We are slashing prices on Rogue Creamery cheeses so you can slice into your favorite cheddar! This week marks the return of fresh corn tortillas from Jennifer Greene at Windborne Farm – what better to go with your favorite local cheese!

All of the beef bundles from Scott River Ranch are 10% off. All of Scott River’s beef products are organic, grass-fed and finished.

Hi Everybody!

Newton Pippin ApplesLots of great stuff to choose from this week, including many new delicious items!   Valley View Orchard is supplying us with our first batch of frozen sliced peaches, and frozen pitted cherries (these are amazing!).  They will also have fresh picked apples, including Golden and Red Delicious, and Newton Pippin varieties.  We’ll also have Valley View’s Bartlett and Bosc pears available.

Cherry tomatoes are on sale from Happy Dirt Veggie Patch.  As you may know, a pint of these cherry tomatoes is like no other you’ll see.  Each pint of cherry tomatoes contains at least 3 or 4 different varieties with unique colors and flavors.  This week they’re only $3.00 a pint!

Upon one of our customer’s recommendation, we have added “Rogue’s Mary Herbed Cheese,” from Rogue Creamery to our list this week.  Please remember that you can always let us know if there are particular items you would like us to add.

Fry Family Farm has both Romaine and red leaf lettuce available, among the other many items they provide from their Summer list.  Wandering Roots Farm has broccoli, topped Japanese turnips, sweet Walla Walla onions, and many other items.  Green Beans are back on the list from Bigham Farm, and we’ve added a new jam, “Tayberry,” to our list of offerings from Pennington Farm.

I’ll be working with Dunbar Farms fairly exclusively now when it comes to carrots. They seem to have the best quality I’ve seen over the past few years, and now they’re back on the list—the Scarlett Nantes and Red Cored Chantenay varieties. Dunbar also has parsnips this week, as well as some impressive Chioggia beets to offer.

If you’d like a delivery on Friday, September 18, please submit the online form by 6:00 pm this Tuesday evening. As you’ll see, we have had a major upgrade to our website, and you will receive a confirmation email promptly that details the exact items in your order, as well as the cost of the order once you submit it.

Thank you for supporting Rogue Produce, and your local farms and small businesses.  We look forward to receiving your orders!

Hi Everybody!

Rogue Produce TomatoesLots of great stuff to choose from this week. There are orange honeydew melons from Whistling Duck Farm as well as their delicious salad mix on the list as usual. Bosc pears are on the list from Valley View Orchard. I got a list of what Valley View is going to have available through the winter, and it’s very exciting. They’re making batches of apple cider vinegar; freezing peaches, apricots, and pitted cherries; and making jams and other delicious items of all kinds!

Fry Family Farm has some healthy Romaine lettuce coming in, and Wandering Roots Farm has broccoli, topped Japanese turnips, and sweet Walla Walla onions, too.

I’ll be working with Dunbar Farms fairly exclusively now when it comes to carrots. They seem to have the best quality I’ve seen over the past few years, and now they’re back on the list—the Scarlett Nantes and Red Cored Chantenay varieties. Dunbar also has parsnips this week.

A few items are at a discount price this week, including heirloom tomatoes from Matt at Happy Dirt Veggie Patch. He’s got tons of tomatoes coming in, so they should be the cream of the crop at $3.00 a pound. I am also discounting slicer cucumbers and various squash varieties because of the low prices available right now.

My current webhost has been quite stubborn in relenting to a new home, so the new website has been delayed until next week. I am very happy with my decision to create a new one since during the process we’ve discovered lots more problems with our current site. Thanks so much for your patience!

If you’d like a delivery on Friday, September 11, please submit the online form by 6:00 pm this Tuesday evening. Remember to watch for my confirmation email within 1–2 hours of submitting your order. If you don’t receive a confirmation email, it means I haven’t received your order.

I will follow up this email with each of your updated account balances.

Thank you, and I look forward to receiving your orders!

Weekly Note: August 30, 2015

Hi Everybody!

Funny CarrotsI am so grateful to be writing this email to you under blue skies! I hope you’ve all been enjoying the beautiful weekend.

I just spoke with Ann Marie at Swallow Springs Farm, and they have their red and gold potatoes ready. Thankfully, Ann Marie says that she should have potatoes all winter long this year, as they aren’t selling at the Farmers’ Markets.

Maria at Talent Natural Farm has some very sweet, seedless green grapes available this week, and Matt at Happy Dirt Veggie Patch has his delicious yard-long green beans available, as well as ears of sweet corn. Matt always has the best corn, so I recommend getting some while it lasts.

Watermelon and cantaloupe are unknowns at this point—I still haven’t received lists back from a farm or two that might have them available. If you’d like either one, please let me know in the “specific instructions” box at the end of the order form.

On another note, our new website is almost finished! I am expecting it to be up and running for orders next weekend.

If you’d like a delivery this Friday, please submit the online form by 5:30pm this Tuesday. Remember to look for my confirmation email within an hour or two of placing your order. If you don’t receive the confirmation email, it means I have not received your order.

I will follow up this email with an update on each of your individual account balances.

Thank you for your support, and I look forward to receiving your orders.

Hey Everybody!

Eggplant HeadHope you all are enjoying your orders from last week! I’d love to hear your feedback on the watermelon and cantaloupe especially : )

We’ve got red bell peppers on the list this week from Fry Family Farm. I don’t know why, but it seems like those are coming along later this season than usual. I got a case each of Becky’s spicy and semi-spicy pickles, so those are on the list as well.

I’d like to share that the strawberries from Wandering Roots Farm have been spectacular this year, and they have a whole bunch available this week. They’ve managed to get their strawberries and romaine lettuce into Market of Choice! Wandering Roots Farm is owned by a young couple, Jeff and Anna, and it has been a pleasure to work with them for the first time this year. They have a booth at the growers’ market at the Medford Armory on Thursdays if you ever want to stop by and meet them. They even make juice with their produce—and you can have it freshly prepared for you at the farmers’ market!

Maria at Talent Natural Farm has some delicious blue plums available, and Matt at Happy Dirt Veggie Patch has some beautiful-looking Asian and Globe eggplants, fragrant bags of fresh basil, okra, and other items on the list this week.

I’ve chosen the salad mix again from Whistling Duck Farm, and I’d love to hear your feedback about this product. It is my favorite mix. I can also get a salad mix from Fry Family Farm that primarily comprises kale, chard, a little lettuce, and mustard greens—it’s certainly heartier than Whistling Duck Farm’s version. I haven’t had Fry’s mix on the list as of late, but if you would like me to make it available, please let me know. I tend to enjoy the Fry mix mostly in the fall and early spring when the lighter stuff isn’t available.

If you’d like a delivery this Friday, August 28, please submit the online form by 6:00 pm on Tuesday. Remember to include your name in the form and keep an eye out for my confirmation email within one to two hours of submitting your order. If you don’t receive a confirmation email, it means I have not received your order.

I will follow up this email with an update on each of your account balances.

Thank you for a wonderful year so far, and I look forward to receiving your orders!
